Commitment to Community

At CKB, our dedication to community involvement is rooted in the values that guide every decision we make. Doing Justly calls us to do what’s right—consistently, quietly, and with integrity—because meaningful impact begins with responsible action. Loving Mercy shapes the way we engage with people and organizations, encouraging us to treat everyone with respect while supporting initiatives that strengthen and uplift the diverse communities we serve. And through Walking Humbly, we recognize that true partnership starts with listening. We seek to understand the needs around us before stepping in, ensuring our contributions are thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely helpful.

This commitment comes to life through meaningful actions—large and small—that reflect our values in practice, including:

Contributing employee driven donations to a local food bank each December.

Taking time during the Outfall 19 project to show a local resident’s fascinated 3 year old the construction equipment on site.

Organizing a BBQ during the Outfall 19 project for the crew, City staff, and the project’s Consultant to foster connection and appreciation.
Supporting the communities where we work—for example, a CKB Foreman assisting an elderly woman in safely crossing the road near a jobsite.

Sponsoring several golf tournaments, including events hosted by BILD, ECA, and the City of St. Albert.

Volunteering services to the City of St. Albert after the historic Perron Street boardwalk was uncovered during excavation.

CKB participates in YOUCAN Youth Services Road to Work Program. This program is a partnership between construction companies and youth. It allows young workers to get the paid support they need to successfully enter the construction world to help create opportunities for local youth.
